I am setting up a new 75G FO tank and was looking for ideas on how to stock the tank.
I would like to hear about what different people have in their tanks.
Thanks

i would pass on any tangs in a 75...they need more room to swim (100gal+)...
i have a 75 FOWLR and i currently just an eel but i will be adding a dwarf lionfish and a blue throat trigger (male), but everyone has there favorite fish so i'm sure you'll get plenty alternate of suggestions...

Purple or yellow tang, yellow striped maroon clownfish, dwarf angel( either flame, coral beauty or bi-color) and flame hawkfish. These are my personal preferences for your tank. Would wait until tank is well settled before adding dwarf angel. The rest are pretty hardy but should still be added very slowly, perhaps one every 10-14 days or so. good luck.

Purple or yellow tang, yellow striped maroon clownfish, dwarf angel( either flame, or coral beauty, I also like the bi-color but sometimes is chased constantly by the yellow tang. Would be ok with purple tang ) and flame hawkfish or royal grammer. These are my personal preferences for your tank. Would wait until tank is well settled before adding dwarf angel. The rest are pretty hardy but should still be added very slowly, perhaps one every 10-14 days or so. Add tang last. good luck.

I personally am a big fan of Anthias and I don't think there would be anything more impressive than an Anthias tank. I would put 5-6 females and 1 male in there. I like these fish because they stay out in the open, are fairly hardy, and eat well. The tips I would reccommend for an anthias tank are similar to tangs: super-high O2 content (via skimmer or wet/dry, skimmer preferable) and constant feeding. These fish are plantivores and in the wild eat nearly constantly. Feed them at least 4 times a day mostly meaty foods like shrimp, clam, mysids, brine shrimp, and even live ghost shrimp on occasion. Also, when you stock them, put them all in at once (make sure the tanks bio filter can handle this!!) and add only 1 male to a tank and several females. Another thing they need is many "bolt-holes" where they can hide if they feel threatend for some reason.

Thanks for all the imput. One thing I didn't mention is that I would like to keep a fire shrimp, crabs, etc so I will need fish that won't think these are snacks.
I am currently doing a fishless cycle of the tank and it should be able to handle a good sized bio load when done.
One other question, if the tank is able to support it I would like to put several fish in at once. Since I will be having the fish shipped to me I would like to keep it all to a couple of orders.
Thanks
Steve

JWT,
In the resaearch I have done that lead me to do the amonia fishless cycle of the tank it seems to indicate that when the tank is cycled in this manner it can handle near a full bio load from the beginning. If anyone has experience with this I would like to hear how it went for you.
Of course I knew everyone would have their favorite fish but what I am really looking for are people with established tanks that are working. It seem everytime I find a new information resource the info about what fish get along is different. It is a bit confusing for a beginner to figure out.
I will keep reading and go slow and se what develops.
Thanks
Steve

As posted already, you are flirting with disaster if you don't take the advice of all on the board......Take your time when adding fish. If you keep reading you will always find different views. The more experienced authors with lots of practical real life fishkeeping experience would strongly argue against what you'd like to do. At the end of the day you will do as you please and may even be successfuil, but why take the chance of your tank crashing and fish dieing? Good Luck?

I am not planning on putting everything in at once but want to add more than one fish at a time.
Here is a list of possible residents please let me know what you think.
Pair Oscelaris clowns
3-4 green chromis
blue banded goby
cleaner shrimp
Flame Angel (last to be added after tank matures)
Also would a flame hawk fit in with this group?
And maybe a six line wrasse.
