Hi, I was wondering what kind of fish this is and most importantly are they reef safe??? I know its in a reef tank right now, but I just needed to make sure so they won't destroy my corals. I have several books on different species of fishes, but none that can identify this fish. Thanks in advance

thats a long nsed filefish and is difficult to keep. it is related to the trigger and i wouldnt personally put it in a reef as it likes to feed on coral polyps.

True, true.
They mainly feed on sps corals like acropora, ect. I dont see any sps in those pics and those filefish are starving, skinny, looseing color.

my book says they are a 1 in care..very hard to keep, but it says they can be kept in a reef but may nip the polyps of small-polyped stony corals...good luck
