I am thinking of setting up a 10 gallon tank  I Know most of my options are limitd for fish but what are the few fish I can keep? Can I keep a catalina goby in that tank. :help:
you could have a false percula and a neon goby but that is it even this low amount of fish is near the limit. you will need a small protien skimmer and freuent filter and water changes about 15% 2 times a week is what i did when i had a 10 gallon with a clown and goby. keep the salinty low when you first get them 1.011-1.015 fish can readily adjust to this salinity using the drip method to acclimate them. this will kill any parsites on the fish but not the fish itself. the neon goby will also clean the clown fish but at a low salinity such as the level i described would kill any corals or inverts, i only use low salinty for my quarintine tank.when using a tank of 20 or less is not for beginners unless they have done all of their homework any problem that would be a small inconvience in a large tank would be come a major problem i the small tanks andand putting inverts and corals even at regular salinity would be a big problem a small amount of chlorine or ammonia that would be harmless in a large tank would become a life threatening amount for your fish in the 10 gallon. i recommend a larger tank but its your decision.
I have a very astablished 10 gallon. I have a deep sand bed ( about 2 1/2 inches ) and I had a pair ocelliaus clowns in it for about 6 months then I moved to a new 90 gallon reef. Right now I have a mini reef in it mushrooms, zoas, and green star polyps. I also have a big ball of cheatomorphs in the back under the rock. The only fish I've decided to keep in it is my purple firefish. He has about 10-15 lbs. of lr and he's pretty happy. Firefish are so fun to watch.
Yeah, I was gonna say a fire fish too. They kinda get lost in a big tank and you don't realise how interesting they are. I knew a guy that had a pair of Mandarin gobies in a 10 but it had a 20 wet/dry filter. I kept a pair of Clown Shrimp in a 10 in with about the same setup. A good general rule for a 10 is something you like thats to tiny to put in a bigger tank.
OOPS, i didn't actually answer you question. If your water temp can stay below 76 degrees. The official minimum tank is 20 gl. most LFS will put them in a RT at 72-78 so get a small one that just got to the store, or is in a properly cool tank.
