FISH JUMPED...landed in the overflow!!! now what?

I'm having a heck of a bad month with my tank.
The very latest is today I noticed a crack in the top of my tank (https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/t/118836/help-tank-is-cracked-ahh).
NOW...today (before I noticed the crack) I added a Copperband butterfly to my tank. Well....the Firefish who I've had forever got TOTALLY FREAKED OUT....and just noticed he jumped into the overflow.
ANY ADVICE????

My only idea so far is to pull the Durso Standpipe out and let him flow with the water down to the sump and catch him in a net. Is there an easier/better way???????

Before I switched to a Built in Overflow on my tank, I had a Green Chromis who jumped into the overflow box. I let him get sucked into the sump because I couldn't get a net into the box to catch him.
I caught him in the sump, he is doing fine.
