fish never just "hanging out"

all my fish are always swimming at the walls back and forth. my clown fish are even doing it. they used to have their own lttle spot in the tank. now all they do is go back and forth. i dont understand

have your water tested they may be stressed. Also check your water for stray voltage.

how would i test for voltage?

buy a voltmeter. They're only like 15 bucks. I had current running through my water a few months ago and lost a number of fish because of it. It's definitely a good thing to have lying around to check periodically....My clowns do a lot of swimming back and forth too, I'm not too concerned with it though since they always come up to greet me when I come over to the tank.

get a multimeter put the red lead in the water and the black lead in the ground hole in an outlet. the bottom one under the I I .
If you get a voltage reading then what you can do to trouble shoot is it one by one unplug equipment that is in the water, heaters, and powerheads and so forth until you find the item or items that are causing the problem.
Do a search on the forums for stray voltage and you should find a few nice reads on it.

ah. how did u get rid of the voltage?
and now its only the clowns doing this. even if im not near the tank the clowns are doing it

normally the only way to remove the stray voltage is to replace the equipment causing it. you can also install a grounding probe..
But lets not jump ahead we dont know that you even have stray voltage.

yeah. all the others are fine. just the clown fish are always at the glass going up and down from one side to the other

yeah. but they never used to do this. and i have another tank with only clowns and they dont do it
