Fish not eating- help

So I think I really just have the dumbest fish in the world. There is nothing outwardly wrong with him other than him acting completely stupid. He begs for food and when he gets it he might get a few pellets, but mostly seems to not see them and just let them float on past. Sometimes he'll swim up to them and just stare at them. He won't eat flakes, so he gets pellets. The guys at the fish store didn't think live would make much of a difference but should I try it anyways? He seems pretty healthy so he must be eating something!

longnose hawkfish. I've had him for probably 5 months or so. Ate wonderfully for a long time. There is a clownfish in the tank. Niether are aggressive towards each other. Clown likes flakes, hawkfish likes pellets. No fighting over food.

Flakes and pellets will not cut it for long for saltwater fish. Go to the LFS, buy some frozen clam, break off a piece and throw it in. Watch your fish go to town! He is not being dumb, he is starving for actual sustenance.

I agree, your not offering enough food from the ocean. They dont eat pellets in the wild.
