Fish ok in muddy water?

I just changed my bed from crush coral to sand last night. It's been 24 hours and my tank is still milky looking. I have all my live rock, 2 star fish, 4 crabs, a dwarf lion and a mand. goby all in a 30 gallon cooler. They have been in this cooler with no filtration or water circulation since last night. The water temp is ok. I have been checking it periodically throughout the last day. With the water still not settled, could I put these fish back in the tank? I did a 25% water change to help clear up the water which seemed to help out some. I have heard it takes a few days for the sand to all settle. I do not believe I have this long because I can not accomodate my fish with filtration and circulation. Any advice???? <img src="graemlins//urrr.gif" border="0" alt="[urrr]" />

iplayblues4u,
that is a good point, and you are not the first to ask. actually, the sand particles in the water will not harm your fish. It would be better to be in a milky tank than in one without filtration. They will run out of o2 very shortly, not to mention the stress they are in, being in a cooler. Fish in the wild. the only things in the tank that would suffer are corals and filter feeders, such as clams, scallops, etc.
