Fish Only Questions

Is it possible to have a fish only tank without the live rock? I've seen them different places but didn't know how hard they were to maintain.

you can do a fish-only tank without live rock, but, because of the filtration live rock does , you would have to do more water testing and changes since it could mean higher level in ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. Also, it might attract visitors more in your house because the tank has a more natural apperance. So, if you don't want to include any live rock, stock your tank with a few small, extremely hardy fish, or a specimen tank of a larger fish to feep the water quality high.

If I leave the sand that is in there right now, will that help some with the filtration? I still plan on keeping a few snails and such to help with algae control. The fish I have currently are a clown, blue damsel and a sixline wrasse. I would like to get a few more but am unsure of what...

It would be very good to have that live sand in the tank. Like the rock, it helps filter toxic things in the aquarium. I would not add a lot more fish to the tank if it is without live rock. But yes would be more than fine to have live sand in your tank. The fish you should get should be semi aggressive.
