sounds good, but just get 2 ff, they are best if you only get 1 or 2 or a small school, they can be very aggressive towards their own, unless ther is a mate, or they are in a shoal, but i wholly agree with the selection

i would have to go with the set of clowns, and nice tang. maybe a pruple or a sailfin. a cleaner shrimp and a starfish. if the tang is too large go with a blue heppitus tang. i would definatly get a really nice show fish. the purple tangs from the red sea are awesome. keep me posted as to what you get.
good luck my fellow hobbist

i do not disagree that tangs are beautiful center pieces, but in a 30 gallon tank??????
i really think that they need alot more room for swimming, and a 30 IMO isn't quite enough(for any tang), some have had some success with them in smaller tanks, but i have only ever heard of one or two
a sail fin tang is a 16 inch fish(not ot mention that tangs are hyper swimmers and need long tanks) i believe, aand a 30 gallon is how long???, NEVER BUY ON THE IDEA THAT YOUR FISH IS X INCHES, always figure their adult size when you buy for saltwater, sw fish do not grow to fit your tank, they grow period
besides, you only want one or two inches of fish per five gallons of water(one in a fish only tank without a strong biofilter), this leaves you with only a couple of smaller fish to keep, no large ones,
please please don't consider a big fish, for his sake, PLEASE!!!!

THAT IS TOTALY IN CORRECT.....NAW JUST KIDDIN. THIS GUYS ARE WRIGHT. I GUESS I FOR GET HOW SOME A 30 GA IS. MY SMALLEST IS A 29. EVEN IF I BOUGHT A SMALL TANG IT WOULD END UP IN MY LARGER TANK. HOWEVER DONT FORGET ABOUT THE ANGLES. CORAL OR ROCK BEAUTY, OR MAYBE A FLAME.
DONT BEAT ME UP ON THIS ONE GUYS.......LOL!
UNLESS YOU ARE GOING TO TRY THE REEF THING!

A nice but tiny fish is a mandarin. Stays small, and minds his business and is Really colorful. Problem is, he likes at least a tiny bit of live rock to eat and that requires good light...
Go with small inverts and clowns rather than bigger tangs, etc.

starfish are not real easy simply because they are extremely sinsitive to chnages in water quality, which can change daily especially with a new and smaller tank, so my rec. would be not there, how about a pair of fire fish or benggai cardinals(they bengaii's would be bolder and much less likely to hide with the clownfish, not that they will hide, the ff are just more likely to)
and go slow, do not add all your fish at one time, get one or 2 small ones and wait a couple of weeks to a month before getting more
