Fish with a hicky

My tang is not a very good swimmer and he got stuck to a power head. Now he has a big hickey on his side. I removed him from the main tank because he is even more sluggish when he swims and will get no food in the main tank. Should I leave him in the hospital tank for several months or just until he seems to be swimming better? I dont see any other problems with him.
I have since corrected the problems with the power head by getting a spongy thing to put over the intake.

Give it time to heal and when it is acting normal again return it to tank. As long as it does not get a stress related problem from its injury a couple of weeks should do the trick. If there is any open type of area then treat with anti-biotics if not keep a watch on it. A warning to all when using powerheads I always use a pre-filter if for no other reason to keep the fish safe from the suction.

I lost a few fish to the "Dreaded Powerhead". Like Puffer said, I now use a prefilter on my big one and haven't had any problems.

My poor hicky fish. It was in the hospital tank for 2 days and decieded he was going to make the trip back to the main tank himself. Some time last night he jumped from his tank and I found him dead this morning on the floor.
