Yup, those are two generally very open-minded animals. If they can fit it in their mouths, they will probably eat it. As with any animal, variety is key to keeping them healthy. You probably don't need to intentionally feed your hermits though, as they will eat the scraps left by your other fish. If you want your hermits to eat trouble algaes then you definitely don't want to feed them intentionally. Most herbivores will happily eat flake food or anything else before your nuiscance algea. As to variety. I have 4 different frozen foods (formula one and two, angel formula, and plankton) that I scroll through, feeding a different one at each feeding. Also, I add frozen chunks of scallops, squid, and shrimp, mostly to feed my anenomes and corals. And I also have spirulina and formula one flakes that I feed them as well. Basically, the key is variety, variety, variety. I don't know why people still feed there fish just one kind of flake food. It isn't like it is hard to switch up their diet. And, it is so much more satisfying, because you know you are keeping your fish healthy by feeding them a variety and also they clearly are more happy with the variety of food.
