Well, Im now going from a 12g to a 50g.. the only thing so far in my pod is some kenya tree (I got for free from a WAMAS member) and 3 pieces of rock) my little tank is cycled and I pick up the 50g this week and it will be a few more weeks before it is up and running as I have nothing for it and my husband will be building my LED's :)
So I have NO CLUE what kind of fish I can do in a 50g reef... I had set my eyes on only 3 small fish for the 12g that I think I still want...
Possum wrasse
barnacle blenny
rainfords goby
I like reef safe wrasses, might try some hardy anthias??

LOL...from a 12g to 50g...You will feel like it's so huge to fill. You will need lots more live rock...LOL
Think of dwarf angelfish, Dottybacks OR Roayal Gramma. A foxface rabbit fish, or faisry wrasse (cover that tank)

I really want a watnabi angel :( still too small, lol
any specific dwarf angels that have a proven success rate with corals?? Im probably NOT going to do anything like acroporas..but LPS and lots of mushrooms/rics, maxi mini nem's...
hhrrmmm had a foxface before could do the littler one :) dont they nip at softies though?
Oh fairy wrasses are a good idea :)
im also thinking a chalk bass because I like the colors and they are fairly hardy...

All dwarf angels are iffy on the LPS coral thing, there are no guarantees...I never had one nip coral. My favorite was always the Lemonpeel, but the flame and coral beauty, bi-color...all are beautiful and are not too big or too small.

Yeah Im not big on clowns Teresa...especially when i cant have an anemone...
so so far my list is...
possum wrasse
flasher wrasse
3 barnacle blennies
rainfords goby
possibly a dwarf angel (Lemonpeel, coral beauty, or flameback?)
yellow watchman goby
maybe a one spot foxface :)
im thinking thats going to be about it... unless there is a small hardy anthias I could try?? or any other special fish??

I'm not sure about a Foxface in a 50, that might be pushing it just a little, especially if you're going to have a dwarf angel in it. The best way to get dwarfs not to nip corals: keep them well fed with good, established live rock for them to graze on. Of course, there are certain varieties that are considered more reef safe than others, such as the Coral Beauty, but none of them are ever a guarantee. Test them out in QT with some corals and see how it goes. I've never had any issues with Coral beauties or Flames.
Couple other fish to consider (not all):
Yellow Assessor
School of cardinals (instead of the anthias)
3 Bartlett's Anthias once your tank is established
Yellow Candy Hogfish (get them young and they're not aggressive, I love mine)
Flasher or fairy wrasse
Definitely do a group of barnacle blennies, they do better in trips than alone

yea its a toss up between either the angel or the fox.. I feel safer with a fox but i know how big they get, i had one in my 150g... so probably not... id like to have a few small schooling fish so maybe 3 orangelined cardinals? its gonna be a few weeks ATLEAST till it gets set up so i have a LONG time before i have to worry about a final list, lol

Schooling fish...Blue reef chromis...I had 5 in my 90g, they were beautiful and the light danced on them making the blue shimmer. They are very active and swim out in the open all the time.
