fission nano skimmer, or no skimmer at all?

i've read that people don't particularly like the fission nano skimmers. if this is all i have available to me, and will be the only thing for a while, am i better off to go without a skimmer at all?
i also have a question about hermit crabs.
i have never hear anyone mention green leg hermits on here. any big difference from red or blue leg hermits? i had 2 red legs, and 4 blue legs, but lost two blues. should i replace with blues or try some greens?

I had a Fission skimmer and it's junk. Here's a link with some info on the Saphire Aquatics, which I have now. It is a very good skimmer, it's pricey at $105.00 but well worth it.

I had one green legged hermit. Although he was huge he was harmless, I had to give him back to my LFS he was a bulldozer in my tank. And with all of them together in my tank I never noticed one species different from the other. They all behaved the same, at least in my tank.

jlm48 i understand it is junk, but what i'm getting at is should i not bother using it at all if that is all i have available? i can't afford a 100+ skimmer and won't for a while

I asked the SAME thing when I first started on here, and EVERYONE told me it was not worth the plastic it was made from. If I was me....and I am, I would wait and save!

save for a better skimmer if you want one. what size is this tank? i have a 10 gallon without a skimmer and i have no cyano or anything growing on the sand. my cleanup crew is small, like 2 hermit crabs and 4 cerith snails and i just regularly scrub the sides of the tank tank with a magfloat

Fission IS a piece of crap. Just do water changes. A skimmer is not that important for a nano. I have 5 tanks and 2 are nanos and they grow coral like mad and are vedry clean and clear and have no skimmer. One water change would do more than a month of fission skimming.
