Fitting a light for in canopy setup.

So I got my light today. It is a 30 inch t5ho 4X24 watt light. I planned on fitting some riser legs, made by the same company on it and putting the canopy over it. Unfortuantely, the legs weren't compatible. I am afraid that if I just put it on there, it may fall in. How should I go about setting up my new light. Thanks.

What brand of light? My sundial came with little rubber "nubs" as well as the riser legs. With the little "nubs" I have the light sitting on the edge of the tank/glass and it fits under my hood. If it is a current brand this may work, or maybe it is a current and that is the problem.

It's a current. That would work, I have some of those little rubber things somewhere. It really is okay? Should I be worried about it falling in?

I was worried about that too when I set it up. Do you have a glass canopy? I have the little nubs sitting on the edge of the tank and the glass. I figured that way if for some reason the glass broke, the light would still be sitting on the edge of the tank. Is your tank longer than your fixture? If that is the case I would be a little worried about it as well. My fixture is long enough that I don't think it could fit in my tank anyway.

I found these nubs and I set it up. It seemed pretty secure, like it wasn't going to fall in or anything. I'll put on the canopy and see how it goes. Thanks for the suggestion.

one of the scariest thoughts about all of the bad things that could happen to a tank #1 is having my light fixture fall in my dt

My current pc fixture fell in my tank while it was on and i was working on my tank. I pulled it right out and nothing bad happened. still works perfect.

I had my tank and sump disconnected for a bit while working on the sump. I had the sump light on to see what I was doing and knocked it in the water. That sucked. My tank wasn't harmed because it wasn't connected, but I was harmed. After I zapped it, my cheato seemed to grow faster
