Ok I have a 45h im converting over to salt. Mainly because most my fish died back in the ice storms in N.C. last winter and then in april it sprung a leak. I've never had to fix a leak so I have a couple of ?'s.
1. Is it posible to fix or is the tank junk?
2. To fix do i just use regular silicone?
3. Is there any thing special I should do or do I run the silicone down the trim and cross my fingers?

It is very possible to fix a tank.
I recommend silicone for aquarium use
nothing really special just put the silicone where the leak is. Be sure to allow it do set up (like 24 hours or so) and then fill it with water and let it sit a week or so to see if it is holding.
If the leak is where the old sillicon seam was then the tank should be as good as new. If the glass is cracked, you can still fix it this was but it will not look as nice.

Just silicone the leak.
If you dont know where the leak is...then you may need to silicone the entire tank...most likely the bottom.
Is it an AGA? And you should try and get aqaurium silicone if possible...you can go to various dot com's who sell fish stuff and allot are carrying the actual AGA silicone.
If you repair, cure, refill and let it set for awhile...and then it leaks...reseal the entire thing and then consider it for a sump or something...

Hey don't make it too compilcated. Just go to your local home depot or lowes and look for clear silicone sealant that says safe for aquarium use on it.

100% silicone sealent is aquarium safe... so no need to look for the "aquarium sealent"... its probably just a few bucks more for the same thing. but at my home depot, they sell the aquarium sealent...which is half the price than my LFS
