FLAME ANGEL IN TROUBLE....HELP

My Flame Angel has a right eye that is puffing out so much that it looks like it's going to explode. The rest of him looks fine, but his equalibrium looks off, he is swimming near the top...and swimming sideways. It almost looks like it has lost its eyesight. What can I do to help ??? Please answer quickly, I'm really concerned. I have had him for about eight months and my tank has been established for about a year.

Popeye disease which is caused by a deficiency in its diet. Isolate in a hospital tank with heater and aeration. Keep lighting low to just room lighting. Use saltwater Maracyn or Maracyn II. Also use a vitamine supplement (I use vita-chem by Boyd) in the water and directly on the food. I've cured an angel before in 8 days.

Popeye is not caused by diet deficiency it is a bacterial infection that needs to be treated with antibiotics. You could also try medicated food.

Thanks for the replies, I have set up a hospital tank and placed my Flame Angel in it. I put water from my established tank in it about halfway, the other half was new water. I also took my established filter and squeezed out some bacteria into the hospital tank. I then medicated it with myacin.....I don't know if maybe I should put the Flame back in the big tank and medicate the food (the antibiotic food you suggested). My lfs told me that popeye is indeed a diet problem, so they gave me some frozen food specially designed for angels.

I stand corrected Jimi but the treatment is still the same. Saltwater maracyn and maracyn II is a broadspectrum antibiotic. I was told many years ago it started with diet, kinda stuck I guess.
