Flame Angel - Yes or No ??

I have a 240 mixed reef with alot of zoos, soft corals, and some sps frags. I would like a flame angel but have heard many different opinions, pros & cons, and I know it actually depends on the individual fish, but.............should I or shouldn't I??

The only thing I can say is once he goes in, and if he starts eating coral, will you ever be able to get him back out? Probably not with your reef intact...
With that said, they are pretty. My Coral Beauty doesn't bother any of my coral, but I had him first and would have just stopped adding coral if it didn't work. You're coming at it from a different angle.

If you roll the dice and get one and he doesn't work out, what will you do with him?

Do you have a QT running? If so, I would keep him in there for a bit and just experiment with a few softies to see if he nips at anything or not. If you give enough variety and you don't see it nipping away, then it should be safe.

ur gonna have to ask yourself one question.....would i be pissed if this angel decided to pick on the corals? cause theres a good possibility that it will. if you can deal with it then i'd say go for it but if not don't.

I've had two flames. Neither one of them bothered my corals but they were/are aggressive to my other fish.

Dwarfs are really a toss up. Some pick and some do not, some bother other fish yet others are passive. Are you willing to gamble?

I'm sure I could find another local reefer who would love him if I could trap him.

I would try to get one who is known to eat a good variety ahead of time.

I don't have a QT running but could probably set one up easy enough, might not be a bad idea.

If the angel just picks some I could deal with it, I've read about some that nip but don't really hurt stuff, but if he destroys corals.........well........

I've got quite a few different wrasses, midas blenny and a couple tangs who are good size so I would try to get a smaller angel to start with.

I think so, until someone tells me absolutely not to!
