flame angel

Any angel is going to be pretty delicate. We have one in our tank that is doing real well. Just make sure if you want to purchase one that it has been at your LFS for a while and let them show you that it is eating.

All angels will do better in an established tank, with a protein skimmer and live rock, with lots of hiding places. They need lots of greens too! A Flame Angel is a good starter angel and somewhat inexpensive as far as angels go. :)

I kept a flame angel in a 20 gallon for years. Some fluctuation in the water is okay but i would try to keep thins stable for this kind of fish.

I'm not sure why MLM is saying this...You do not have a problem if ur nitrites fluctuate a little bit. If it's a lot then there might be something wrong with ur tank...but this isn't a perfect world and we are not all marine biologists...a little bit of nitrites are ok... We should all strive for perfection, but if we don't reach perfection then we do not necesarily have a problem!!!

Jakepilot,
I am on my second flame - both got ich real fast and are prone to illness. I managed to save this one from the desease and it's been a while since the beakout.
I recommend you ask you LPS where it came from (some angels are still captured using cyanide) the Phillipines. Be ready with medication and be prepared to keep this fish in a quarantine tank for at least three weeks.
Another approach would be to coat your fish food with garlic (Beth th Shark's recommendation) before you add the new fish so your tankmates are ready to combat ick, and feed them all garlic coated food for a while.
After they survive the initial stress people seem to be happy with this little fish.
