Flame Angle short lived....

We bought a flame angle on saturday afternoon. Last night it appeared to be stuck under a rock. So i helped it get out. I went to work last night only to find it dead this morning.
Tank: 55 gal FOWLR tank.
PH is reading 7.8 or 8.0 I cant tell
Nitrite 0
Ammonia 0
Nitrate 5.0
Did a water change last week. Could the low PH caused this problem. The other fish in the tank are fine. Dog face puffer, blue/yellow damsle, yellow tang. The OC clown is battling bloat.
The flame angle was grazing and eating fine/ saturday thur sunday

I'm just guessing here based on the info that you have given here.
Possibly the angel wasn't stuck on the rock and you coming to get him "un-stuck" her probably stressed her out tremendously.
Angels need more time to acclimate to the tank then some of the other fish in my personal opinion. I think like all fish, she had a comfort spot where she will wedge herself in to feel secure in this foreign place at time of insecurity. But that's just what I am guessing. I did this to my dwarf lion once and it died within couple of hours.
Also your PH is low if it's 7.8.
You need to buffer that up. Your other fish are probably not as stressed because they are used to your tank already but flame just got the blunt force of things.
I'm sorry for your loss.. It's very unfortunate because flame has become one of my favorite fish.. (replaced my queen angel with it because queen is just so damn big and mean)
Temp is bit low but shouldn't be the factor since you acclimated her...
when you lower it, lower by 1 degree per day because it can be stressful to the fish... I know I'm probably over doing it but better safe then sorry right?

Thank you for your help. Yes the water PH was low, we are slowing increasing it to 8.2. The store was nice enough to give a credit on the angle fish, as we bought three fish that day. The other two that we bought was a lawnmower blennie and yellow tang. Those two seem to be going great. We also bought a bottle of live pods to add to the tank.

i also found out the hard way if a fish is wedged under a rock it is for two reasons sleeping or dieing. Also i figured if they got in there they should be able to get out. Sorry to her of your loss, I hate that when it happens. Many reasons why they up and die like that, I don't know of one. Had few go quick for no reason I know of, I just think it from to much stress leaving the Big Blue.
