hello everyone,
have something thats been buggin me. I recently ordered a flame scallop from this site and it came in great shape and everything was good. After returning home from a friend's house for the weekend, I come to find out that it was completely gone. The shell was still there but whatever you call it that was inside was completely gone, I mean the inside of the shell was comepletely clean....I had a orange linkia and my father told me that went he went down to take care or my tank for me and siad he saw the starfish near the scallop, but thought nothing of it. I was wondering did my starfish eat my scallop or what could have happened?
Thanks,
Justin

Not sure what happened, but flame scallops have a poor captivity success rate. Best left in the ocean from what I have read. Might want to spend your money on other things....

I've had mine for about a year or so, without any problems. But I had one before that died due to a temperature drop. It turned to mush and made a mess in the tank. I could see a small cleaner crew taking care of this in no time at all. Most people say they can't keep one in their tanks, that they starve. I directly feed mine 3 times a week with a plastic syringe along with my featherdusters.

I have a flame scallop and starfish and they dont mess with it. I have heard of crabs eating them so that all is left is an empty shell

I have one as well. I have had it about 3 months. I try to direct the phyto solution directly into its mouth. And it seems to be doing fine.
I got it free from this place I ordered my sand and rock from, so nothing invested in it but food. It does like to hide though. I tried numerous times to keep it out in the open to see the wonderful color, but it would never stay.
