Flame with a Pygmy Angel

Can a Pygmy angel be added to a 75 Gallon FOWLR tank with at least 160 lbs of live rock? Tank has plenty of cracks and caverns. Could this combo work?

When you say Flame, do you mean a Flame Angel? Most people do not have much luck with two dwarf angels in the same tank as they will fight. I have never tried, but I would guess that a 75 is going to be too small for two.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. It's very probable that they will fight. Leaving you with only one of them. It's possible that you can get away with it, if they are young and they are introduced at the same time. But most likely they will eventually fight. I havent tried it myself, but I do know that generally speaking as a fish matures it becomes more and more aggressive/teritorial. The 75 might be a little tight for 2 mature dwarf angels as stated above.

a flame and a pygmy are different enough(color and size) that IMO theyll be fine.

I agree here, but I wouldn't want either one to be injured. I think that they will be alright with plenty of caves. Do not crowd the tank though and keep the water prestine.

I had a coral beauty that I bought for my 40G a while back. Had it for about a week, so it was used to the tank, then a LFS got a flame angel in and was sellign it for like 30 bucks, so I was like "wow what a great price, i HAVE to buy that!" completely forgot I already had a coral beauty and that would be 2 angels in a 40G. So I get home, realize this, and was like "oh well, I've already bought it, may as well try it". So I added the flame, they faught for about 30 seconds, if that, then got along fine for the rest of the time until ich killed everything about a month ago when I added a stressed-out butterfly fish that I didn't QT lol

I am so sorry that you lost your fish. I wish you had posted when the problem started. We could have helped.

I had a half black pygmy and a bicolor and both chased each other around the tank for supremacy. I would not do it, I learned the hard way. I have a 90 Gal. with plenty of live rock and caves. Just not a good idea. IMO.

Lots of good advice. I've had much better results mixing large angels than mixing dwarfs; in fact, I'll never try it again.
