Flash vs.s Non-flash Pictures

I was just wondering what you guys liked better. Pictures with the flash on or off? I'll give to examples, maybe we can all give examples.
Personally I like pictures without the flash.

I have been photo taking for a while and it seems that they are always better when the flash is off.

Yes, I agree. When I use flash for pictures of my tank it looks a lot uglier than it does without the flash. I guess for close-ups though flash brings out the colors more. BTW cool markings on that fish Tyr-Sog.

I find the flash causes whiteout on some lighter colored features (like sand) and it also hard to deal with the glare from the glass. If extra illumination is needed for a particular subject I'd position a light source to provide the light necessary for a good exposure.
That my $0.02 for what it's worth.

No flash. The flash makes the lr look very ugly. The fish look ok, but the aquascape loses a lot from its beauty.

It all depends on what you are photographing the the aquarium. Most pictures look better with the flash off though...

WOW, I never realized there was that big of a difference! Hmm.. I think I need to actually start playing with a camera.

flash on and flah off both have there "speacialtys" Flash can some times bring out what non flash cant. Majority of the time no flash looks much better.
