Flavia Placement/Injury

Hey all, a friend dropped off a somewhat injured flavia brain since he doesnt' have a QT, it looks like part of it has died off and turned dark though so it's definately got something wrong with it. I have no experience here so any input would be appreciated!
I do have my own reef, just hoping someone knows about this particular coral. His lighting was fine (MH's) but there is a TON of coral in there too.
totally off topic, while I have a thread, Are tentacled plate corals tough to keep as well? anyone have any info? I seen a gorgeous white one and want to make sure my 65 gal coralife 192w PC's will accomodate it.

A 'white' coral is one that has lost it's zooxanthallae..I would avoid it.Just for reference though, short tentacled plates generally do fine in home aquariums, long tentacled plates do not. Both the closed brain, and plate need MH lighting.192 wts of PC's over a 65 is'nt a lot of light.I would stick with soft corals.
