Flirting With Filters

HELLO,
I JUST SET UP MY AQUARIUM AND THERE IS NO WATER IN IT. IT IS A 60 GALLON. I HAVE READ SOMEWERE (CANT REMEMBER) THAT YOU ONLY NEED A MECHANICAL FILTER. BUT I READ THE BOOK CALLED: "SALTWATER AQUARIUMS FOR DUMMIES" AND IT SAID THAT YOU NEED ALL THREE TYPES! WHO SHOULD I BELIEVE? DO YOU HAVE ANOTHER SUGETION? THINK BOTH ARE WRONG? PLEASE! I HAVE NO IDEA!! I NEED HELP!!

i would say that the more the better. all three. they all do different types of filtering, so you definately want bio, and normally, if you have mechanical, then you usually have some type of chemical that goes along with it.

the best filtration is a natural method
1- 1and 1/2 pounds of live rock and sand
and good water flow with a good protein skimmer
and possible a sump or refugium hooked up to the tank. is really all you need for a tank.

Ducky I'm a bit confused. You are saying here that you have no water in your tank and there are at least a few threads by you where you clearly state that you have fish in your tank

How can they be in a tank without water? I don't mean to be nitpicky, this is just a bit strange

I run a reaction cannister with 4 stage filtration mechanical,biological,chemical and uv steralizer. I have had a lot of success with this cannister due to the 4th stage the uv.
