Float Valve for RO

I want to add an automatic topoff system to my large aquarium. Kent Marine sells a float valve for RO systems, but they say it is not intended for level control in aquariums. Why shouldn't you use them? What do you use for a float valve? Using a freshwater reservoir and then pumping from that with another float valve seems unnecessary.

"If" they fail due to salt, calcium, algae build up or snail, crab, sand "sticking/jambing" the float valve in the "on" position....
You will overfill your tank with freshwater causing flooding and a drastic/deadly lowering of salinity...
This would be a "Bad" thing...
Having said that....with proper "maintainence, cleaning, monitoring, backup measures in place and a "Forewarning" that you will have to stay on top of it....They can work..
I use one...(two actually...in two different tanks)
You Have Been Warned !!!
