floating snail

i saw a baby snail about a half a cm long, its high spired. it was floating along the surface of the water. when it went got near the powerhead it got swept down to the LR. i have not been able to locate it to see if it is alive.
theory 1- is that it climbed up the glass and got stuck in the surface tension because if its small size it could not sink until desturbed by the current.
theory 2-it dead and floated.
any ideas?

FW snails float around also. Had them floating right in the middle of the tank before (not going up or down, just hovering). Nothing to worry about.

Yes I have had floating snails myself when I had FW tanks. Can't say I have ever had one in a salt tank but never thought about it much till this post.

Had one floating in my tank. Was caughtup in the current of the return, kind of in a whirlpool. I had to turn the return for a second to let it out of the path of the return. It then dropped to the bottom and crawl off into the rocks. Saw him again tonight, doing fine.
