ok so friday we came home to a flooded house first thing i though was my tank..but no it was a line that broke and we had to have all the carpet ripped out.. it is going to be a week tell they are done with the new carpet what sould i do with my tank it has to be moved... and has anyone had a tank on hardwood floors this is what i am wanting to put down over the concreate...

I would use wood grain linoleum in the room the tank is in which matches the rest of the hardwood flooring. I would not put your tank on a hardwood floor. All tanks splash and spills happen and it will ruin the hardwood. Or you can just use the wood grain linoleum on the whole area where the carpet was. It is cheaper, less work to care for it, and really does look the same.

As long as you've got a good waterproof sealant on the hardwood there should be no problems. You just need to make sure you wipe up any drips or spills .

There is no way linoleum looks the same..sorry. It will however hold up the best under a fish tank.
Purgo (spelling??) flooring is the closest and a bit more durable than hardwood floors. However too much splash over the years and it too will warp.

well i was just thinking that i could get like a area rug and put that do in front of the tank and if it gets missed up i will throw it out and get a new one..

My tank is on tile as well. Best way to go. Linoleum will work and not warp either. I think a rug will get annoying real fast when you have to move the tank to get rid of the rug.
I really do think it looks like real wood

What I have seen done is to Put a Sheet of plywood about 1 foot bigger sides and front around the tank. Tile the hardwood. if you want to be fancy or just leave it plywood.

If it's fairly new then maby reuse but I don't think it's worth it sand can hold a lot old debries and cause spikes if destrbed. Now if you plan to redo your cycle then I do not see why not. But is it worht it over a few dollors in sand? Just get dry sand and seed it with some of your live sand
