I saw this similar ? on one of the other boards but didnt want to break in to the middle of it. The ? is the tank will b a 55 and of course w/ the water and rock sand etc....u know the weight will be a decent amount. Well heres the ? is my house is 103yrs old and the tank is set up on a outer wall but there is a basement and the tank is running parallel w the supports due to the fact the way room is set up it is the best place for the tank.So will i have a problem w/ support? Ive asked around everyone says it will b ok but still think bout the worst that could happen.I know its only a 55 but still like to make sure. Thank you

You may want to check with a carpenter or architect for 100% answers. You want to put the load perpendicular to the floor joists whenever you can. However, I can tell you what we have.
We have a 75 with a 30 gallon sump/fuge underneath sitting parrallel to the floor joists. Our home is only 3 years old and has 2" x 10" joists in this area. WHen we get around to upgrading, I will "shore up" the joists with block piers under the house. I will tie the joists together where the tank will be, like a ladder where the joists are the rails and the braces are the rungs. Hope this helps.
