Flourescent lighting

My tank has been up for almost 2 months and i have a standard hood with a 24" 50/50 corallife 20w bulb. I will eventually upgrade my lighting in a few months when i start adding coral but for now is there a better bulb i can get for this fixture thats going to be better for my live rock and promote growth?
and is there any coral that will do well in this lighting? (small mushrooms etc.....)

I have the 20 watt Marine-Glo T-8 that you can get at Petsmart, I dont know about coral, but the growth on my LR has been amazing since I put it in, and it was cheap
