flow and maxi-jet mods in 40g

how much flow is too much...? im want to add a modded maxi-jet to my 40g breeder but what size should i go with? i don't want to aggravate the fish as well as blow sand all over the place. would a modded MJ400 be ok positioned to blow horizontal across the length of the tank? possibly one on each side alternating for a wave effect?

If your not modding them then I would do atleast 2 1200s. JMO. What kind of corals are you doing?
