i am looking into getting a 1400gal overflow and want to know if a mag 18 with a pump height of 4.5 feet suffice? would i under flow or overflow? please help? or be right?

Mag Drive #18 Flow (gph)
0 Feet = 1800
2 Feet = 1610
4 Feet = 1350
6 Feet = 1100
At 4-1/2 VERTICAL Feet of head pressure - the chart would indicate less than 1350 gph.
Using a Mag18 with 1400 gph overflow in my estimation - would be ideal - if the head is indeed 4 to 4-1/2 feet.
If 3-1/2 feet - nope
Have you considered using two lesser flow rated pumps instead of just one ?
Run both for max flow
Run one for less flow
If one dies - you still have a pump running until you buy a replacement ?

thanks broomer and yes the head height is 54 inches4.5 feet) exactly. if i ran 2 lower rated pumps i think it would be the mag 7, if im correct. thanks again.

Yeah the Mag 7 would be next downsize pump to choose.
I'd have to check the charts sebae0 on flow vs head .. but I'm too lazy this Sunday afternoon
I have a 75 with a dual 1" external overflow rated at 1400 gph.
I run a Mag 7 all the time - figure about 500 gph
I have a Mag9.5 on timer - kicks on and off throughout the day/night - figure around 800 gph.
Total 1300 gph
Works fine
