Flowers from FTD

Well I made a huge mistake this year, one of the gifts I got my wife for V-day was nice long stem roses and I ordered from FTD. When I ordered I natually assumed (my bad) that they work with local florists and deliver fresh flowers already in the vase. No such luck, my wife's flowers came in a little box and the vase didn't even show up. To make it worse, the flowers were all brown around the edges and by the second day all of the petals had fallen out and they weren't even long stem roses.
We called and they sent another dozen after some complaining and low and behold, the exact same thing happened the second time. I looked like they shipped the flowers in from Denver and were in very poor shape. Never going to make that mistake again.
Does anyone have a better online source for good flowers?

800-flowers advertises on the nation wide sports talk show circuit all the time. Somewhere on the site should be a coupon box...put "Rome" or "Patrick" and there are discounts, usually for the V-day and Mother's Day holidays.

Support your local small business (florist).
Hand deliver them yourself.
Guaranteed to get you action.
Actually, I think I am going to do that next time I get her flowers.

My husband always orders from 1800flowers.com. Last year they delivered Valentine's flowers 3 days late even though the order was placed a week before V day. This year they came a day early :)

i have used 1800 flowers many times until one 200$+ purchase that was never even delivered. Several phone calls to 1800 flowers and all of them told me to call the local florist that they used to send the flowers from. Just a big run around and after a few months i was finally promised a refund. That was over 2 years ago and still not 1 cent.
also the reason for not delivering was the driver couldn't find the house.
