I have a 37g FO tank, sand bed, PS, and cannister filter and fluidized bed filter that I would like to convert to a mini reef.
I would like to keep this tank on the simple side due to the size, clownfish or two, anemone and one or two other reef safe fish along with a few of the other reef inhabitants.
I have a couple of questions on converting it.
What is a good lighting system for the tank which is 30" wide and about 21' deep? The tank has a canopy which limits what can be accepted there. I was thinking a compact flourescent lighting system.
Secondly, can I add live sand on the top of the current sand bed along with live rock, or would the live rock be enough to affect the current sand bed?
Lastly, I have been running the fluidized bed filter since it was fish only. Can I assume that this filter is not required due the addition of live rock and/or live sand?
Thanks in advance for the help!
