Foggy tank after change to DSB

How long will it take for my tank to clear up. I just changed out the CC for DSB. There appears to be a silt on top of the sand and it keeps getting stirred up. What do I do to get rid of the really fine stuff so my water will be clearer?

It will take a little while for your tank to clear up and that will depend on your water flow the more flow the faster it will clear. I wouldnt get rid of the silt just let it settle and it should be fine sooner or later . is your power heads stirring up the sand or is it fish? Also how long is just changed? Hours a day ? Neeed more info to be sure. Also what kind of sand is it and was it live or dry ?

ive just put in some more sand in my tank a few days ago itll only take about a day or a day and a half to clear up and just whenever your doing something in your tank when you get close to the bottom do it as slow as you can to keep from stirring it up too much.

I changed to the sand just one day ago, so I know it hasn't been long. Used regular sand and one bag of live sand on top. Just wondered if the fine stuff would work it's way to bottom like it does in the dry bag? Otherwise, I guess I'll get in a few weeks when I do a water change I can vancuum a little

The fine stuff will definitly work its way down.

I tried to vacuum up some of the finer sand off my live rock when it settile.. it really doesnt vacuum well. its heavier than algae so a normal syphon really wont pick it up. Hopefully it will settle into the sand and off of the rock..

Do it the other way. Use a piece of airline tubing and gently blow water over the rock and critters to remove the silt. Worked for me.

Only problem is my tank bottom is solid live rock. Im going to put in a eel. didnt want to stack it high.. So if I blow it off I think it will just settle back in a different place.. but Ill try it.. I guess Ill get my 125psi air compressor from the garage and see what kinda damage I can do!!
