Follow up on Colt Question

I posted a thread a week or so ago about my colt coral not staying open past 5. There was some discussion on whether it was still acclimating or if it just didn't need over 10 hours of light. Some of the posters that contributed to that thread asked that I post again to say what has happened with it, so that's what I'm doing. As of about 4 days ago the colt has stayed open now until I shut my lights off at night.

I guess your colt likes absording the light rays or thinks its day time and when you turn the lights, it might think its night time so in closes up

Hey- glad it was staying open now- I knew it would it was just getting used to the tank- 2 weeks isnt that long to acclimate some take only minutes and some take forever it seems- You colt may shrivel from time to time but it should be of no concern- many soft corals do this- Good luck

Based on my experiences by the time the 9 or 10 hours of light comes along in a day, they want to rest. The coral doesn't know that 5pm everyday it has to shrivle up because it's getting used to the tank...if it were still getting used to the tank then it wouldn't be open from 7am until 5pm. Want proof? Don't turn your lights on until say 11am or even 12 noon...I can guarantee you the colt with stay open for roughly the same amount of time.

Just thought i would post this just in case they wanted proof;)
BTW thanks for the follow up
