what is 'blanch off'?
I'd wash it in water, then feed it. You can also buy seaweed.

I feed mine Sushi Nori, Formula 2, Live Brine Shrimp, and Marine Cuisine. IF you want to feed veggies, you have to wash them then cook them til they're soft then feed it. Mine won't eat'em. :happyfish

Blanching is the process of "par boiling" foods, then quenching in ice water (to stop the cooking). This helps to preserve the food by slowing down the enzyme action that causes foods to break down, losing color, flavor, and nutritional value.
Finally a question I can answer!!
No you don't have to.

The longer you cook vegetables the more nutrient and mineral loss, same goes for when you "shock" them in a ice bath{mixture of ice and water} the longer you leave them in the ice bath teh more nutrients you loose. The best cooking method for cooking any type of vegetables would be to steam them.

Don't feed them land based vegetables. Grow them macroalgae or buy them nori. I personally make my own food with fresh seafood and a variety of supplements and add a large amount of nori to the mix. Tangs are quite happy eating the mix.
