Food goes right to the overflow box

I have a 55 gallon tank, I use flake food for the 7 or 8 fish I have. some are bottom feeders and my overflow box just sucks the food right into the filter in a matter of moments, not allowing any food to fall. I lowered the flow of the pump but that didn't work, should I raise the overflow box a little bit or does anybody have any other suggestions that will allow the food to stay in the tank. Thanks everybody.

When you have a pinch of flake food, stick your fingers in the water and play the smallest violin in the world. The food will drop and very little food will go into the overflow box.

Flaked food is the Devil. There are worse things to put in your saltwater aquarium but not very many. I guess bleach would be worse.

Lol. Ive fed all my fish flake for years and never had a problem. What it comes down to is filtration, macroalgae, and skimmer.
Every time ive fed mysis or brine i end up with hair algae in the display. I dont know. I guess its a matter of personal preference.

Flake is meant to float. If you have bottom feeders, flake is definitely not the route to go. And I agree with Bang Guy, flake food is the DEVIL.
Turn pumps off for 10 minutes when feeding.
