Not much excites me about my job any more, but we just got news that one of our top boiler manufacturer's finally brought their oil burner over from Germany. the darn thing is so efficient it burns oil with a blue flame instead of a yellow (NO soot) plus it runs biofuel. almost 90% efficiency on a oil fired boiler...almost unheard of!!!
i can't wait to get ahold of some of these! (yea yea, like i said not much excites me, but i've been waiting for this burner for over 4 years!)

this same manufacturer has a gas boiler that is 98% efficient.
one of the only 3 boilers that qualifies for the US IRS $500 tax rebate for energy savings.
unfortunately... its a german company. there's not many boilers made in america that get over 85-86% oil and 85% gas

thats pretty impressive. i've installed a lot of furnaces and oil is definitely the least efficient thing out there that we put in so thats great that at least somebody is coming up with technology to increase oil burners... maybe it'll catch on over here one of these days.
