I normally feed frozen brine, mysis, and spirulina with brine. All 3 dissolve into tons of small pieces when put into water. I bought frozen formula 1 and 2 yesterday and when I put it into water it softens but still stays in a cube. Am I supposed to cut it into smaller pieces to feed???

Yes, especially the Formula 2. You can place them in some tank water in a cup (that is fish only) to thaw or what I do is actually place the frozen cube in the tank and rub it between my fingers so as it thaws I shred it for all the little fishies!

I was wondering how to get it to my small percula, cause I cut it up into very small pieces and he would naw on it for a couple seconds and then let it drop to the bottom..... maybe I will try your idea of letting it thaw in the tank as I rub it between my fingers..... do very little pieces come off??

depending what fish are in the tank some times you can thaw it then just smush it to the inside glass of the aquarium letting the fish pick off their meals. its pretty amusing to watch them tearign chunks off the block. but for smaller fish I either squish it up or chop it up.

Once it's thawed using a cup of tank water, you use the turkey baster to smoosh the food into smaller peices. Just throwing it in the tank won't do you any good. This food has a gel coating.
I use a plastic cup with turkey baster to feed my fish.

Is there a big difference between formula 1 and 2? From what I have read formula 2 has more algea in it and its better for herbivores. If I have both herbivores and carnivorous fish in my tank should I feed formula 1? Both?
