Found a zoa in my 20g!!!!

I found a brown-button polyp as a hitchhiker on my lr, and it just appeared this morning. The surprising thing is that I am running 15 watts of T8 light on 20 gallons. Last night, I did place a few layers of clear blue plastic wrap under the light to make a DIY lunar light, but I doubt that could've caused a zoa to sprout. Will the poor thing survive?

i wwould be careful, that plastic wrap is probably going to melt, those lights get pretty hot.No, i do not think the polyp will survive under that lighting, they dont need much lighting, but i dont think 18 watts over a 20 gallon is enough.

I would say those 32 watt 50/50 PC fixtures over a 20 gallon would be sufficient

How long can the polyp go without sufficient lighting?

I have a 17 watt Perfecto fixture. Would it hurt much if I put in an 18 watt bulb in? I need the cheapest possible light solution. I have this 80 watt twin-bulb shop-light that I would use, but it's just too long for my tank. Dang, I could even get 2 GE plant & aquarium bulbs for it.

I identified it, and I've seen an aptaisia, so yeah, I'm sure.
I just now figured out what to do for lighting. I have this 50 watt incandescent hood on my 10g, so I could exchange it with the light I currently have on my 20g SW, then, I will replace each of the bulbs with one of these: http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS...5050lamp20watt
How long could the zoa last in my tank, before I plan on getting the lights?

Lol, it's far from rare. Either a button polyp, or some other kind of zoa I've seen. When I first saw it, it definitly looked like a button polyp.
Now, it's been moving around the rock constantly, and doesn't look as nice as it did yesterday morning. I'd take it to my lfs, but it's too small to really get any $ for.

Moving around the rock? Sounds like not a zoa. Maybe mojano anemone

I just now googled a mojano anemone, and it seems possible that whatever I have is a juvenile mojano. If it is an anemone, I'm excited. I will try to snap a good pic of the polyp/zoa/anemone thing some time today.

Yea a pic will let us id it right. Mojanos are considered a pest anemone. They move to the best light spot in your tank, and then reproduce.
