well i have been on a slow methotical quest for MY beer. i had the pleasure of tasting two new (to me) brews.
the first i tried was a german double bock called Spaten Optimator. its a full body beer with 7.2% abv. very malty (that the way i like my winter beers) and clean crisp taste. the aftertaste can be some what bitter but has a sweetness that battles it. the sweetness tends to build upon itself until the beer is gone so the drinkability falls off after a while. but with 7.2 abv you dont need much.
the second beer and now my new fav. is "Samuel Adams Double Bock" this is a sharp clean full body malt bomb that starts and finishes strong. it has a smooth velvet mouth feel and taste of roasted caramels and the use of a half pound of malt per 12oz bottle (almost enough to make a loaf of bread) you can make this a meal at 240 calories. The 9.5% ABV is well hidden within the complex flavors this beer has. every one that would, should try this beer.
Thanks for the forum.
