fox face question

I recently got a fox face. I have noticed him picking at my blue xenia and also picking at the tubes to my feather dusters. Is this common? I was under the impression from prior research that it would be an approptriate fish for my reef tank. Thanks

Try getting some Nori sheets for it if you don't have any leafy algae in your tank. I have one that is eating the Caulerpa in my tank and I love him for it. However when that runs out I will have to supplement with algae sheets or take him back. They are voracious algae eaters.

Mine never ate Xenia but it destroyed every feather duster I attempted to put in "his" tank.

hmmm, I do suppliment with nori sheets. I will have to watch him. He has done quite a bit of damage to one of the feather duster tubes. I curious as to why they would pick at these.

Hmmm. I have 3 foxface in 3 tanks and they leave everything but algae alone. But then again, I don't have any large feather dusters. Just the small white ones that are hitchhikers.
If you really like both critters involved, is there a way to put the dusters in some PVC tubing to protect them? Or is the foxface eating the feather part as well?
