Foxface acting really wierd...

So today I decided to purchase a few more pieces of LR and re-aquascape my 28 nano. He's siiting way at the bottom right, and he looks like he's panting like a dog. No color changes whatsoever. No new fish were introduced to the tank. Although during the aquascape, the tank temp dipped down to 71F which i had no clue had happened. All water was checked yesterday, and everything was perfect.
Any help would be great, Thanks

The temp drop if it was sudden might have shocked him, but I think a 28 nano tank is a wee bit small for a fox face. Keep an eye on your levels and do water changes when necessary good luck.

Well, the temp is back to normal. I also forgotten to mention that there was a power outage prior to me aquascaping. He has his body in a cave letting the current kinda keep him against the rock. He's at least swimming a little bit, now. Nothing else in the tank seems disturbed. Hopefully he decides to come out tomorrow.

You changed his world around and nothing looks familiar anymore. The power outage was stressful and then a giant arm invaded his world and added landscape...he is allowed to feel a little out of sorts.
An adult faxface is around 9 inches, and needs at least a 75g tank...to say a 28g nano is a wee bit small for him is a huge understatement.

Well things are not looking good at this moment. I tried looking for him all day and couldn't find him anywhere. I come home now and see him laying on his side. Still alive and with all colors. But my question is this. Do I take him out now, almost midnight CST, or hope for the best? Mind you I wont be home all day tomorrow till 8 pm. If he dies in the tank while im not here, thats not a good thing for that many hours, right?
Any good advise right now would greatly appreciated.

I would get him out and into a hospital tank. If you have a good CUC the eaters would take care of the body. To be honest the eaters don't always wait for death before they begin to snack, so it would be a kindness to remove the fish to another tank .....or container with at least an air line.

Sorry to hear about this. Obviously, as you say, SOMETHING'S wrong. Between the power outage and you stirring up the sediment, I'm wondering about an anoxic environment. Sometimes disturbing the sediment during a water change can stir up any number of nasties that occasionally form in the sand. Depends on your sand depth as well. Hydrogen sulfide can form, but usually only in deeper beds. Even a little H2S can cause stress. There is even the possibility of bacterial transmission with new rock and stirring up old sand, although I doubt it given the speed you're talking about. I would get him out into some clean fresh SW with a whisper HOB filter and an airline. Keep the hospital tank dark, and add something for him to hide in, but that you can still observe him. That, and time, will tell. Fingers crossed...

If it's toxins...running carbon will help.
