Hi I have a Foxfaced Rabbit fish who I have had for nearly a year now which has seemed to develop greyish fleshy spots on his body and mouth overnight, he was fine last night when I fed him but now he is swimming with his mouth open with 5 spots on the side of him all the way up to his mouth. He hangs around near the heater a lot, do you think he has burnt himself? though he has never done it before. I have checked the water and its all fine. Any suggestes would be great.

Thanks, Hannah

Can you post a picture of this fish? Also how are your water readings?

Here's a picture, the clearest I can get, I have contacted the place I git him from and they said from the photos I showed them that it's a viral infection that cannot be treated. They said to keep the water clean and do regular water changes so I have just done a 50% water change.

You forgot to post up your water readings? Post: ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, salinity, water temp.

Is the fish's fins frayed? They look like they may be in that pic. What is the size of your aquarium?
