Frag a Sponge?

This blue sponge came buried in a cluster of dusters (which all died)...it has grown and now attached to the rock. The photo doesn't do it justice...it's a bright turquoise coloer and as fast as its growing I would like to seed a few other areas...
Can it be done and if so how?

just cut it UNDER water. it will die if exposed.

just hack it up. the larger the piece the faster you'll get a sizable growth but all it takes is a speck.
