not sure yet. I only have the frame and cant decide on the grow tray sizes yet i'm considering a dozen options. all I know for sure is that it is going to be a multi tiered set up the same lenth and width of a 55g stand but shallow trays maybe 6-8 inches. at least one tray a raceway. with a 20g double high as a LR tank for biological filtration and the lights are all going to be suspended on pully systems for ease of adjustment/light acclimation. the top layer will probably have a 2x250w halide light some one is giving me.

I'm also going to get another 50lbs of base rock. grow trays will have racks (just high enough to set plugs in)
as a side note I cant find weld on acryllic glues anywhere around here.... anyone have any ideas? where do you get yours? I have abunch of acryllic but without glues its not going to do me any good.

well I got the 20G double high last night (I'm not home so I cant post pictures right now.) but I bought a 40g breeder from a member of Swam (saltewater addicts of maine) our local reefclub, and traded it for the 20g xtra high with a friend of mine.I now have my LR holding tank for my set up.

Ooooh, can't wait to see it. How does the whole frag tank thing work anyway? Do you put the rock underneath the egg crate? How does that work? I have been thinking about setting one up.

the rock is going to be in a tank off to the side the trays are going to be shallow for the best possible light penetration. I measured the tank turns out its a 29 extra high not a 20g extra high, which is cool with me I can get more water volume in it that way. gotta love lifes little suprises.

OK so far I have run into a couple really serious hitches. one I have no idea if the guy is going to come through with the lighting like he said. no biggie but I really wanted halides for the top tray. secondly I cant find acryllic glue around here anywhere (stilll have a couple more places to contact but I am getting discouraged) I may have to rethink my tray design if I cant get ahold of the glue.

but I am going to add my dead rock to my 75g in the sump to get the rocks bioconditioned and get some life onto them.

Just Google Weld-On Acrylics, it should get you what your looking for, if not send me a PM and I'll try to find the site I got my stuff from. Good luck with your new frag tank.

Cool, man that is going to be a lot of glue. Just make sure to use in a well ventilated area, very aeromatic stuff.

after thinking the prices of materials over, and considering my options I may go plyood and fiberglass for my racks. For a couple reasons, fiber glass is fairly cheap I can mold ridges in the bottom for flow disruption in my raceway, and I have more expirience working with fiberglass than I do acryllic, so it'll probably be easier for me to glass it in.

OK its decided, I'm going advantech and fiberglass all the way. just so i can get going on construction, the perks of being able to mold rounded corners and ripples in the bottom of my race way are just way to tempting to pass up. my mind is going 2,000MPH on this now. forget the acrylic (maybe next time) ok if the weather holds maybe this weekend will seee some progress on the frag rack.
