What exactly are frags, and why do people buy them? Arnt full corals better?

Frags are fragments of larger corals. Typically, at least these days, most are aquacultured at facilities and home aquariums. Larger corals, while able to fill a tank faster, is much more expensive. Then, aquarists are also timid creatures who dont have a lot of confidence in their skills until they get experience with smaller, less expensive coral frags.

Do they grow into large corals?

Yes. They grow into larger corals with proper lighting, food, flow and husbandry.
