freakin lights

my tank is 48" x 18" - 90g. I have done 'some' research on lights here and I just wanted to see if anyone had some advice for me.
I'm not really sure exaclty what corals I'll be getting in the future, but what combination of lights would I want to go with if I ultimately wanted the most options??? what would you get? (MH allow for the most options?)
and how do I fit those lights under my AGA canopy?
sorry for not more specific questions...I'd have to say lighting is very intimidating.

toddpolish ,
If it were me I would go with 2 250w MH set a foot in on each end of the canopy and then I would have 2 48" VHO actinic lights use the URI bulbs. Build the canopy so the lights are 12" off the water, I use the 10,000k hamelton bulbs but I have seen some 20,000k bulbs that look great but in my opinion the soft corals dont respond as well to them.
good luck,
Alex.
Ps here is a pic of mine with this type of lighting

Your aga canopy will not work for mh's. I had to get rid of mine. I think you should use this. 2 175w mh's and 2 110w vho's. That will give you plenty of light for almost anything. You could use 250's if you want but I don't think it would be required unless you plan on getting some sps.

do you have the AGA stand too, slick?
I'd have to match up the wood stain colors if I were to build my own canopy (and keep the aga stand). Damn...seems like a pain.

Yeah I do use my aga stand. I don't think it's that hard to match the stain color. The stands are made from pine so make your canopy from pine. Then just start with a lighter stain than you think you will need. Move darker until you match. Even if you canopy dosen't match your stand it dosen't look bad. I have made custom canopies for people with different trim than is on thier stand and it looks fine.
