Is a freshwater dip a good idea to help get rid of ick???
Please help this is my first bout with this stuff, and I don't have a hospital tank.

freshwater dips don't necesarily cure ick. The ick is in ur tank... you need to keep your tank fish free for at least 25 days...perferbly a month. I am currently battling ick right now in my main tank and there are no fish in there...just the corals, anemones live rock and sand. The fish are in a 10 gallon quarantine tank. I suggest going to the store and picking up a 10 or 20 gallon tank. Set it up and put the fish in it. then do hyposalinity. (lower the salt in the water to 1.009 over a 48 hour period) Keep the fish in there for about a month. Make sure they are not showing any more signs of ick. Then slowly raise the salt level back up to 1.023 and you can put them back in ur show tank. This usually cures ick. Of course...if u have nothing in ur tank except fish...(no live sand or rock or anything!!) you can use medicine with copper in it and keep the fish in the tank while you treat it... Hope this helps.
