What is the procedure for doing a freshwater dip on a Lionfish for example? How long do you keep the fish in the water?

I would be very careful with a lionfish...You cant touch
them. They can sting you, which will most likely get you
a trip to the hospital. You cant net them either. You need
to move them in a container. I would reserch this a
little more before you try it..
To do a Freshwater Dip:

You take a brand new bucket or a rubbermaid container
from target. Fill it with Freshwater. Importantly make
sure the temp and the PH are exactly the same as your
main tank.
Dip the fish anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 mins. Depending
on size. I also use Methylene Blue. It turns your freshwater
royal blue and helps greatly in ridding of Ich,Flukes...ect.
The fish may appear to be stressed...but this is ok..You
are not hurting them. Then after the dip..most importantly..
Put them in a QT/Hospital tank for 2 weeks. watch them. If
everything is ok. They can be moved to your Display/main tank.
Also on the QT/Hospital tank. Use water from your main tank.
This way your PH,salt level, and Temp are exactly the same.
If you dont use tank water...Mix a new batch of saltwater. After
one week...do a 50% water change..this way the QT tank never
cycles..
Good Luck..
